One Food Truck Fan Will Win Seat at Curbside Cookoff Judges’ Table
WASHINGTON, DC – One lucky food truck fan will win a seat at the all-star judges’ table at the Curbside Cookoff food truck festival, the DMV Food Truck Association announced today.
The winning food truck fan will join Washington Post food writer Tim Carmen, Chef Ris Lacoste and Valerie Van Dyke of the Virginia Beef Industry Council to judge dishes prepared in three different secret ingredient chef battles and one dessert bakeoff.
Curbside Cookoff is 11 am to 6 pm Saturday, Sep. 6 at 1st and M Streets NE in Washington, DC.
The winner for the judge’s seat will be selected from food truck fans that buy their ticket to Curbside Cookoff before Sep. 1. Tickets can purchased at www.tasteusa.com/event/curbside-cookoff ($5).
Three live chef battles will take place in the Curbside Cookoff Arena: A sparse, outdoor kitchen equipped with butane burners and a cooler of secret ingredients. The chef battles will be MC’d by the Sports Junkies 106.7 The Fan.
Dessert chefs will also compete in the Curbside Bakeoff. Chefs will be judged on how they use one key ingredient in a dessert: Ancho chilies. The dish can be any dessert – cakes, pies, cupcakes, even a milk shake – and the chilies can be dried or fresh.
Six Chefs will battle head to head in the East Coast Customs Cookoff Arena in three secret ingredient challenges. The competitors are:
Sang Alavi, Sang on Wheels
Justin Bates, South Meets East
Mounir Elhilali, Crepes Parfait
Leslie Nguyen, Crusty Dog
Rob Miller, Ball or Nothing
Andy Smiedala, Tortuga
Five Chefs will compete in the Curbside Bakeoff. The winning Chef will be chosen by how well he or she incorporates one key ingredient into their dessert: Ancho chilies.
